Grow your CV: Be exceptional

You will never grow an exceptional portfolio doing only what is required by your job description. Napoleon Hill coined it well when he said, Do more than what you are paid for, 'The man who does more than he is paid for will soon be paid for more than he does'. Many people complain that opportunities do not come their way, well most people are not well deserving of those opportunities either. The word of God tells us that a man's gift will make room for Him, He will not stand before obscure men. David, was a shepherd boy. His job description was to tend his fathers flock. However we learn when David stood before King Saul He sold the skills that he had acquired on his own volition . A job is just a platform for you to develop yourself into becoming the kind of person you want to be. Be the Architect of your life. The brick company cannot provide you with bricks and a housing plan on how to build the house. Likewise your employer does not dictate how far you can go in this...

101 Reasons why the word of God is important!

Isaiah 55: 10 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Joshua 1:8  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Hebrews 4: 12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 2 Corinthians 10: 4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivit...

Yet though i walk through the valley of the shadow death, I will fear no evil

One day I was walking past a funeral parlour and I suddenly thought, wouldn't it be wierd if I started wailing? Yes, the African way of mourning traditionally is wailing, weeping or mourning whatever way you feel best describes the way you feel at that particular moment. However, this is the thing, my passing through a  funeral parlour doesn't make me a corpse. It doesn't speak anything to the person that I am, it doesn't diminish my being alive or the person that I am. Psalms 23:4 says "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." So, what situation are you passing through? It does not define you. Keep walking and sooner rather than later you will have walked through its length and it will soon be a distant memory. Stay blessed and keep Jesus as the focal point of your life.

2018 New Year

As we begin 2018 we are beginning a new lap. A new year! May you be rejuvenated, excited, equipped with God’s mercies that are New every morning. Run the race set before you and run it well. Knowing we have cheering us on those heroes of faith we read of in the bible. Telling us they conquered and you can too! “Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans ch eering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through....

Save your energy for what really matters

1 samuel 17:25-31 NIV Now the Israelites had been saying, "Do you see how this man keeps coming out? He comes out to defy Israel. The king will give great wealth to the man who kills him. He will also give him his daughter in marriage and will exempt his family from taxes in Israel." David asked the men standing near him, "What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?" They repeated to him what they had been saying and told him, "This is what will be done for the man who kills him." When Eliab, David's oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked, "Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle."   “Now what have I d...

The 2% Mindset

Because its a Tuesday, stay motivated! Success does not fall on your lap just because you wish for it. Like one wise sage put it “Alot of people hav e alot of wishbone but no backbone”. The proof of desire is pursuit. And you don’t deserve what you don’t desire! Success will continue to evade you or be an illusion, a dream to you as long as you remain in a “comfort zone” so to speak. You must must experience discontentment for you to aspire for greater and better experiences, otherwise you will never move. Choose today to use every resource you have to  #WORK  towards your goals. Successful people make an effort daily to do something that contributes to their end goal. It might be a little jog, a workout session, a little study, a little investment, a little research that eventually culminates into the bigger picture. Zechariah4:10 first bit says “For who hath despised the day of small things?” Whatever it is that you are doing or pursuing , don’t stop moving, be r...

Welcome Remarks

Welcome to Ruvimbo's blog. This has been the culmination of much encouragement from many Women within my circles to pursue the hobby of writing. To me, it comes naturally to just put my thoughts on paper but I now realize that what may be natural to me may not come naturally to others hence the desire to graduate this hobby into a passion. In 2018 I desire to Master my stone so to speak, that is to gain mastery and sharpen my core competencies and skills, so should you. To those who may be wondering what the Journey is all about, the Journey is what we are all on. Whether you like it or not we are all journeying towards something or somewhere in the literal, figurative and practical sense. We all have goals and dreams, we all have aspirations, we all aspire to go to Heaven someday. We are all sojourners on the earth. John Bunyan captures it well in his epic book called Pilgrims Progress. Indeed we are on a journey. To those who continue to support my writings and give feed...
